Sea Cliff is a village in Oyster Bay and the community of Gold Coast on the North Shore of Long Island. The area was known as Muskeeta Cove in the 17th century. Joseph Carpenter, Englishman, purchased the land from the Indians in area in which he developed to be a retreat for Methodists from New York City. On top of a cliff, a huge tabernacle was built which brought in thousands to worship during summer weekends. The village received its name due to its location on a bluff beside the sea. The village became incorporated in 1883, making it one of the oldest villages on Long Island.
North Shore Central School District serves the area along with Old Brookville, Glen Head, Glenwood, Roslyn Harbor, and Greenvale. Sea Cliff offers breathe-taking scenic views and awesome sunsets when viewed from Memorial Park.
The most popular attraction is during the boating season where the three yacht clubs and the harbor are full of boat enthusiasts. The village also has a beach that is often frequented by visitors. During the 1st weekend in October Sea Cliff is the place to be for the street fair offering local crafts and food. For those that just want to explore, the area is home to sixteen parks with magnificent water views, beautiful gardens, and more.
